Official Importer of BB Holographic Plates made in the UK

The BB-Plates are manufactured by Colour Holographics, Ltd. in Britain. They are a range of silver halide materials specially designed for holography.

Characteristics of the different emulsions:

The emulsions are specially designed for high diffraction efficiency combined with low scatter in display holography. All of our material on plate has a high strength and is thus highly suitable for mastering where fringe integrity is a must.

The sensitivity is approx. 150µJ/cm² exposed at 633 nm and developed in a metol/ascorbate developer to a density of 2.5. Please note that this is a very rough estimate only and may vary widely depending on wavelength and development. In most cases one will get good results by giving around three times the exposure which is necessary for conventional products.

Grain size is approximately between 20 nm and 25 nm.

  1. BB-PAN
    Sensitivity: 488 nm to 647 nm ("panchromatic" emulsion).
    Sensitivity is not the same for all wavelengths. You might find lower sensitivity for a specific wavelength compared to our other emulsions.
    Sensitivity region: 480 nm to 540 nm and 580 nm to 650 nm
    Suitable both for reflection and transmission holograms, excellent Denisyuk performance for all common wavelength, specially designed for full color Denisyuk holograms.

  2. BB-450
    Sensitivity: 442 nm (He-Cd), 458 nm (Ar+)
    Sensitivity region: 410 nm to 470 nm
    This emulsion is specially designed for embossed origination (H1). It combines the low scatter of all of our emulsions with reasonable sensitivity at the He-Cd wavelength. Not recommended for Denisyuk work.

  3. BB-520
    Sensitivity: 488 nm (Ar+), 515 nm (Ar+), 532 nm (frequency doubled Nd-YAG)
    Sensitivity region: 480 nm to 540 nm
    Suitable both for reflection and transmission holograms, good Denisyuk performance.

  4. BB-640
    Sensitivity: 633 nm (He-Ne), 647 nm (Kr+), NOT for use at 694 nm .
    Sensitivity region: 580 nm to 650 nm
    Suitable both for reflection and transmission holograms, excellent Denisyuk performance

  5. BB-700
    Sensitivity: 694 nm (Ruby)
    Sensitivity region: 670 nm to 720 nm
    This emulsion is specially designed for work with pulsed ruby lasers. This emulsion contains more silver than our standard emulsions as well as larger grains in order to obtain higher sensitivity. As a result this emulsion has more scatter than our standard products.

    The first two sizes are on 2 mm glass, the other on 3 mm glass. (Please note we can supply 60cm strips for "rainbow" masters or any other size below 50 cm x 60 cm on request.)
